Q

Takeoff procedure

A

Taxi onto the runway
Establish crosswind correction
Select reference for centerline
Start takeoff roll on centerline with nose wheel straight ahead
Slowly apply full power
Glance at engine indicators to ensure they are in the green
Airspeed indicator is alive
When controls become effective, establish the aircraft into a climb attitude
Pitch for Vy

Q

Stall recovery

A

Lower the nose
Apply full power
Level the wings
Once airspeed is regained:
Initiate a climb
Wait until reaching Vy before retracting flaps
Climb to desired altitude
Return to straight and level flight

Q

Conditions required for a spin

A

The aircraft must first be stalled
Must be in uncoordinated flight

Situations that might lead to an accidental spin:
A skidding turn from base to final
An uncoordinated power on stall

Q

Maneuvering during slow flight

A
  • perform clearing turns
  • 1500 RPM
  • landing configuration
  • maintain altitude - 45-50 KIAS
  • Use power as required to maintain airspeed and altitude
  • perform maneuvers as required without activating a stall warning
  • recover: max power, maintain altitude, reduce flaps
  • above Vx: retract flaps to 0
  • cruise checklist

Q

Steep turns

A
  • clearing turns
  • 95 KIAS (~2000 RPM)
  • cruise checklist
  • perform 365 turn with 45 degrees of bank
  • maintain altitude and airspeed (add back pressure and ~1-200 RPM)
  • roll out @ 1/2 of the bank angle from entry heading
  • perform a 365 turn in the opposite direction
  • roll out @ 1/2 of the bank angle from entry
  • cruise checklist

Q

power-off stall

A
  • clearing turns
  • 1500RPM
  • landing configuration flow
  • stabilized descent at 65KIAS
  • throttle idle
  • wings level or bank as assigned
  • raise nose to an attitude that indicates a stall
  • acknowledge cues of the impending stall
  • recover: reduce AOA, level wings, apply max power
  • retract flaps to 20 degrees immediately
  • retract flaps to 10 degrees when airspeed is greater than 60 KIAS
  • increase pitch to arrest descent
  • establish Vy
  • flaps to 0 when accelerating through Vx
  • return to specified altitude, heading, and airspeed
  • cruise checklist

Q

Power on stall

A

-clearing turns
-1500 rpm (maintain altitude)
-clean configuration flow
-at 60 kias, simultaneously increase pitch and apply full throttle
-pitch to induce a stall
-acknowledge cues impending stall
-at stall, recover:
-reduce aoa
-level wings
-accelerate to Vx/Vy as appropriate
-return to specified altitude, heading, and airspeed
-cruise checklist
