i. Mutual support and coordination among the security bases.
ii. Troops can gradually and systematically adapt with the situation and terrain.
iii. Progress of the security operation can be seen.
iv. Effective psychological operation can be launched.
v. Newly established bases are less vulnerable to the insurgent’s threat.
vi. Systematic clearance of the affected area.

Selection of Ground.

A

The defensive position should first ensure the security of own troops and then capable of providing a sense of security among the local population from its location. The selected ground should be:
iii. High and dominating ground which can be defended easily by minimum of troops.
iv. It should be in such a place from where the activities of the insurgents should be effectively controlled.
v. Should be in such a place from where a sense of security among the local population can be provided. But it should not be inside the village which undermines the security of the population.
vi. It should be in such location from where effective coordination with local administration and other authorities can be maintained.
vii. The location of the security base should hinder the movement and logistic support of the insurgents.
