Semi conservative replication Flashcards
whats the first stage (on prev flashcards)
the enzyme helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds between the polynucliotide strands so the helix unwinds
what do the bases from the origional strand do
tey act as a template and the nucliotides attach to their complimentary base pairings
what does semi mean and how is it related to this
semi- half
it half of the origional dna
what reaction joins the nucleotide and the new strands together. what bonds are formed
Condensation
hydrogen bonds are formed
what is this catalysed by
DNA Polymerase
how are each of the strands antiparallel
each end of the dna strands in slighly different.
so the active site of dna polmerase is only complimentary to 3’ of newly formed strand
