Series Circuit Flashcards
(7 cards)
1
Q
How to identify a series circuit?
A
- All components are connected back to back
- Only one current path flows through each component
- Current throughout the the whole circuit is equal.
2
Q
What is Kirchoff’s Voltage Law?
A
- States that the algebraic sum of all the voltages in a closed loop or circuit is zero.’
- Total sum of voltage rise = Total sum of voltage drop
3
Q
When does voltage rise and voltage drop occur?
A
- Voltage Rise: When current flows from - terminal to + terminal
- Voltage Drop: When current flows from +terminal to - terminal
4
Q
What is the Voltage Divider Rule?
A
- Vx = Vs (Rx / Rt)
5
Q
What is a circuit node?
A
- In a given electrical circuit, there are connecting points where elements meet.
- A meeting point has same voltage level throughout.
6
Q
What is a circuit loop?
A
- A loop in an electrical circuit is a closed path that starts at a node, proceeds through some circuit elements (branches),
and returns to the starting node - A loop cannot pass through any node more than once
7
Q
How to calculate the total resistance in series circuit?
A
Rt = R1 + R2 ….
