Superposition Theorem Flashcards
(5 cards)
1
Q
What is an ideal voltage source?
A
- An ideal voltage source mantains its constant output voltage regardless of the load condition
- Does not have a internal resistance
- In series with source resistor
- Yields a vertical constant line on the I - V graph.
2
Q
What is an ideal current source?
A
- An ideal current source mantains its constant output current regardless of the load condition
- Has infinite internal resistance
- In parallel with source resistor
- Yields a horizontal constant line on the I - V graph.
3
Q
How to neglect effects of a voltage source?
A
Terminals across it is short circuited
4
Q
How to neglect effects of a current source?
A
The terminal across the sources are open-circuited
5
Q
What is the superposition theorem?
A
Voltage at any node or the current in any branch of a linear circuit is the algebraic sum of the voltages or the currents produced by each source acting independently.
