   compression stockings pneumatic compression devices (PCD) in
   the patient who has decreased mobility or immobile.

• patients who have decreased mobility or are immobile are at an increased risk for DVT, pulmonary embolism, and phlebitis (inflammation of a vein)and venous stasis.
  
  • compression stockings increase velocity of blood flow in the superficial and deep veins and improve venous valve function in the legs which promotes venous return to the heart.
