Why are methods of training importance
They can help improve performance or improve the component of fitness
What are the six components of fitness on the gcse
Continious, fartlek , circuit, interval,plyometric,weight
What do you need to take into consinderation when choosing the right method of training
The requirments of particular sports , the facilities in the local area, the individuals currents level of fitness

As it could lead into injury

You should progressivly overload so that you can make progress
Where was fartlek orgininated and what does it mean
Fartlek was orginated in sweden . The word fartlek is a combination between two words ‘speed ‘and ‘play’
What are the conponents of fitness for interval training
Speed /cardiovascualar fitness
What are the advantages and disadvantages of fitness classes
Negative =Some gyms may be to exspensive , positive = good to meeting new people
What is continous training
Working the body for a long period of time
Whats an advantage of continous training
Inexspensive , can be alone or done in a group
Whats an disadvantage of continous training
Does not improve anaerobic fitness , some people find it boring
What is fartlek training
A method of training where the terrain and speed are constantly changing
Advantages of fartlek
Can be done in a variety of terrain ,can include rest periods
Disadvantages for fartlek
May not be suitable terrain , difficult for coach to monitor unless they are with you
What is cuircut training
A series of excercises completed for a certain amount of time /reps
Advantages of cuircut training
Can combine many components of fitness , a good source of all round fitness
Disadvantage of circuit training
The circut needs to be set up well and planned , it is important to work hard on each circuit
What is interval training
Physical training involving alternating changes of high and low intensity
Advantages of interval training
Includes repeated sprints which is anerobic , includes a rest period
Disadvantage of circuit training
Can be intense so needs full commitment , some people find intensity boring
What is plyometrics
Excercises where muscle use maximum force in short intervals of time
Advantages of plyometric training
Excerices can be performed for a specific type e.g high jump , improves exsplosive fitness
Disadvantage of plyometrics
Need knowledge of you event or coach , need to progress gradually
