Milgram 1963 Procedure

A

-Advertised for participants and told them that they were taking part in an experiment on human learning.
-He had an accomplice who would receive fake shocks
-Participant was led to believe they were giving real shocks to the accomplish at 300 volts there was no sign of protest

Milgram 1963 Results

A

-26 of 40 men (and 26 of 40 women of a separate study) continued to the end.
-In basic study, which used male participants, 14 participants stopped before 450 volts
-65% obeyed to 450 volts; 100% obeyed to 300 volts
-Most participant thought that the experimental was real, they were seen to sweat, tremble, stutter, groan and dig their fingernails in their flesh
