Radios : by 1930 40 percent of population had one, and that number doubled by 1939
Movies: audiences returned in even larger numbers
Disney and Hollywood
Comic books : cheep to make and buy, very popular
Arts and literature : social impact of depression inspired writers
Federal writers project provided lots of jobs
Post war society
Record number of births in 46 lead to a demand for houses. Growth of suburbs lead to the creating of the national system of highways
Truemans fair deal:
almost doubled minimum wage
Desegregated army in 48
Provided fund for slum clearance
Investigated racial injustice
Changes in culture after war
Booming economy meant more kids graduated
Films now in colour
By 1960 87 percent of households had a tele
1950s rock and roll popular with teens ( who had more time on there hands)
