1972 equal rights amendment not passed because of strong opposition e.g. stop era, led by Conservatives
1963 equal pay act had to be amended because there were to many exeptions. Replaced with the 1972 equal rights act
Women’s lib and NOW
1963 presidential commission on status of women found
- women earn 60 percent less than men in the same job
- 95 percent of managers were men
1972 contraceptives made legal for unmarried and married women
Rode vs wade passed in 1973
