When someone has to run to the next base because the batter became a base runner.
If nobody is on base and the ball is hit on the ground to third base, what should the fielder do with the ball?
The fielder should throw the ball to first base to try to get an out.
If there is a runner on second base and nobody is on first and the ball is hit, is the runner required to run? Explain.
No, the runner does not have to run because nobody is running to second base.
If you are a runner and the ball is hit into the air, what should you do and why?
You should step off the base to be ready to run if the ball is not caught, but also ready to go back to base if it is caught.

The first baseman catches a ball hit in the air and then steps on first base to get the runner out.
If someone is choosing to advance to the next base, to get them out, what does the defense need to do?
The defense needs to tag the runner or the base the runner is trying to get to.
