• form is a love poem
• there is usually a volta on line 8, however the volta is on line 7, indicating her impatience to be with him
• She was separated from him as her dad locked her up, so she can’t bear another day without him
‘as wild vines, about a tree’
• adjective ‘wild’ suggest she is uncontrollable and her love is growing stronger as the vines twist more around the tree
• metaphor - ‘tree’ indicates the man who is tall, stable and grounded
‘set thy trunk all bare’
•double entendre:
-“Trunk” can metaphorically suggest the male body, and “all bare” implies nudity or exposure.
-other meaning could suggest she wants to shake off her thoughts so she can see and love the man himself directly
