Special Process Heat Tracing(QM) Flashcards

1
Q

What is the main purpose for Special Process Heat Tracing system ?

A

Used to maintain temp in special processes which contain:
-Fluid in pipes, tanks, valves, & pumps that need heat to prevent precipitation of concentrated material in fluid

14
Q

What does a temperature sensor do on a heat traced line ? What does the controller do ?

A

-Provides a signal to panel mounted controller
-Controller displays line temp & compares it to HI & LO set points, if line temp drops below it will energize heater elements

16
Q

How does a Self-Limiting Heater work during low temperature ?

A

-Increased power output at low temperature, heats it more uniformly & faster
-Heat output is decreased as the desired temperature is being approached so it’s not overshot

17
Q

What’re the Self-Limiting Heater circuits monitored for ?

A

-Heater can remain energized without burnout or overheating, however circuits are monitored with HI temp alarm
