What is a skill
An action or a way behaving that can be learned
What is ability
Someone is born it it is inherited
What is a basic skill
Less concentration like walking catching or throwing
What is a complex skill
Takes a long time to learn they require high concentration and coordination like pole vaulting or javelin
What is an open skill
Effected by the environment like rugby tackle or hockey pass
What is a closed skill
Not effected by environment, like a diver or tennis serve
What is a self paced skill
The performer chooses when to choose the skill
What is an externally paced skill
Started in response to external factor
What is a gross movement skill
Involve large muscles groups to perform a powerful movement
What is a fine skill
Small precise movments
What are the two different types of goals
Performance and outcome
What is a performance outcome
Personal goals that an individual wants to achieve
What is an outcome goal
You are focused on the end result like winning
What are smart targets
S- specific
M- measurable
A- accepted
R- Realistic
T-Time bound
What is information processing
Input- data is recieved
Decision making- selective attention
Output- the decision is acted on
Feedback- data recieved in response can either be intrinsic or extrinsic
What are the 4 different types of guidance
Mechanical, manual, verbal and visual
What is visual guidance
Showing someone how to perform something
What is verbal guidance
Telling someone how to do something
What is manual guidance
A coach physically moving a performer
What is mechanical guidance
An object aiding someone to assist

Positive negative, knowledge of results, knowledge of performance, extrinsic and intrinsic

A physical and mental state of alertness
