What is standard deviation?
A
The measure of the variation or dispersion of the data from the mean (how many individuals sit outside the mean)

What does a larger standard deviation mean?
A
Greater variation within a population

Why is standard deviation beneficial?
A
Shows the spread of data around the mean removing extreme values and allows for statistical comparisons to be made

What does it mean when error bars overlap?
A
The difference between 2 data sets may not be statistically significant

A
The difference may be statistically significant and not down to chance

A
Must perform a stats test to draw a conclusion and be sure
