Q

When is a full alignment required of the ADIRU required?

A

Through Flights: a realignment is NOT normally required if deviation of any IRS
position from the FMGC position is less than 5 nm. (DATA/POSITION MONITOR
[1L]).
Crew Change: during a crew change with FLAPS 1 and no other conditions
requiring a complete alignment, the crew should perform a Fast IRS Alignment
(see below).
Complete IRS Alignment: A Complete IRS alignment (see Supplemental,
Complete IRS Alignment) must be performed for any of the following conditions:
• Before the first flight of the day
• When there is a crew change
• When any portion of the flight is conducted using Oceanic and Remote
Continental Navigation
• When the GPS is not available and the navaids coverage is poor on the
expected route, or
• When the GPS is not available and the expected flight time is more than 3
hours

Confirm with Ground Personnel the area is clear prior to
pressurizing the hydraulic system. If Ground Personnel are not
present, a Flight Crewmember may clear the area.
Y ELEC PUMP..ON
NOTE: As the PTU is not inhibited in this condition, the Green system will also pressurize.
FLAPS ….. Zero
Y ELEC PUMP….Off
ADIRS selectors .. All Off (for more than 5 seconds), then NAV
FLAPS …….As Required
If the OAT is 35°C or above, the flaps may be set to 1:
CAUTION! Confirm with Ground Personnel the area is clear prior to
pressurizing the hydraulic system. If Ground Personnel are not
present, a Flight Crewmember may clear the area.
Y ELEC PUMP ……ON
As the PTU is not inhibited in this condition, the Green system will also pressurize.

Q

When performing the BEFORE START FLOW (Electric Test), what are we looking for on the ELEC panel BAT check?

A

ECAM Control Panel, ELEC pb – Press
BAT 1 and 2 – OFF, then On
This action initiates a charging cycle of the batteries.
10 seconds after setting all BAT pbs on, check on the ELEC SD page that the
current charge of the battery is below 60 Amps and is decreasing. If charge of at
least one battery is not below 60 Amps, wait until the end of the charging cycle
of the batteries and perform this check again.
