Task 7 - Amygdala Flashcards

(5 cards)

1
Q

Amygdala

Function

A
  • Connected to the OFC
  • Responsible for affective value of stimuli and involved in updating value of stimuli
  • Can also modulate attention by connection with IT/PRh

Q

De Martino et al. (2006)

A
  • Participants chose between a sure option and a gamble with higher wins
  • The first option was framed differently (“Keep 20$” or “loose 30$”)
  • The Amygdala activated during biased choices (consistent with framing effect)
  • vmPFC is more active in people who are less influenced by framing

Q

Murray’s model of amygdala functioning

A
  1. Amygdala tag events/objects/options with affective value
  2. Sends this tag to LOFC
  3. LOFC integrates this information with other aspects of value
  4. Integrated information is stored in vmPFC
