Tempurature In Enzymes Flashcards
What do all enzymes need to do in order to react
Collide
What is needed for the enzymes to collide
Sufficient energy (activation energy)
What’s the definition of activation energy
Minimum amount of energy to start a reaction
What do enzymes do to activation energy
They lower it
If you increase the temperature what happens to substrate
The temperature gives the substrate molecules more energy and they will move around more (kinetic energy) so it increases the number of substrate molecules encountering an enzyme
What happens if the temperature gets to high
The hydrogen bonds (that hold together the alpha and beta pleat in secondary structure) causing the active site to change shape so substrate cannot bind to it as it’s wrong shape
