You served Confucius dozens of years.

何也

I asked you
and you said that you are unable to know.
Why?’

賜譬渴者之飲江海

Zigong said,
I can be compared to a thirsty man drinking from the rivers and oceans.

知足而已

I only know when I am satisfied.

孔子猶江海也
A
Confucius is like the rivers and oceans.

賜則奚足以識之

How am I capable of knowing this?’
