why were some people optimistic about the LON (league of nation)
they were optimistic bcz they believed that no one would dare attack another country if the usa and other countries in the league would back them
why did the USA never join the league?
USA never joined because the republicans remained isolationists. This was a major blow to the league as USA was powerful and wealthy.
Even thought Woodrow Wilson tried his best to revert this in 1919.
What was germany’s stance in the league? (1926-1933)
- Prohibited from joining, which gave the league a sense of a ‘winner’s club’, vindictively applying the TofV. (1919)
- Germany joined the league in 1926, in the ‘locarro spirit’.
- it withdrew under the influence of Hitler in 1933
Soviet union (1934-1939)
