What is a democracy?
people have the power to vote for leaders/decisions
What is a Republic?
elected people in office who have the power to make decisions/leaders
Who is in the executive branch?
the president
what is the executive branches powers?
vetos and approves laws
what does the legislative branch do?
-makes laws
-can declare ware
-places taxes
-can impeach the president

Who is apart of the legislative branch?
The senate and H.O.R.
What does the judicial branch do?
-checks if laws are constitutional
Who makes up the judicial branch?
congress and the supreme court (9 people)
what are checks and balances?
each branch will check each other to see if anyone is abusing their power
what are the bill of rights?
-Protection from the powers of a strong national government
-Limits power of government
-Freedom of speech and rights of people accused
-Any power that is not listed in the Constitution
-Belongs to the states of the people
