Ensure the team meets deadlines and sticks to budget.
works with everyone- MUST be a good communicator.

Test the product function to ensure it performs it correctly and safely.
Many engineers;structural, electrician, chemical and software.
what is the job a product specialist
Provides info on ALL aspects of product production ( rate and volume of production to the best production systems.
Work closely with designer, material technologist and manufacturers.
what is the job of a materials technologist
provide info on ALL aspects of materials- PROPERTIES AND MANUFACTURING METHODS.
works closely with designer, production specialist and manufacturers.
what is the job of market researchers
Determines the needs and wants of the consumer.
Feeds info back to the designer.
Research the pricing, trends and projected sales.
This is fed back to other design team members.
what is the job of a lawyer
Ensures all legal aspects- product design, productions, marketing and retail, comply with legislation or country of sales.
Protects the IPR of the product and ensures it DOES NOT infringe the IPR of other products.
what are IN HOUSE design teams
the full team is employed by the same company and often located in the same building.
2 advantages of having an IN HOUSE design team
easier for the project manager to manage.
communication is excellent between team members
2 disadvantages of having an IN HOUSE design team
more expensive than sub contractors.
creativity can become stale.
what is a SUB-CONTRACTING design team
They are only hired temporarily to the specific jobs AND are NOT employees of the company
2 advantages of having a SUB-CONTRACTING design team
can be hired quickly in response to a sudden increase in orders.
Can be very specialist.
2 disadvantages of having a SUB-CONTRACTING design team
sub-contractors do not deeply understand your products/ company.
sub-contractors relationships is legally more complex than with IN HOUSE teams
