  • Not all parts of countries are poor or rich.
  • Does not take into account countries in the middle.
  • Some countries have developed more.
  • Does not include the BRICs.
  • Doesn’t take into account of the population.

Middle income countries (MIC’s)

A

Countries such as brazil and chile that has large reserves of raw materials (e.g. iron) which encouraged investment and growth in the 1980s.

A

Their growth was often due to relocation of manufacturing overseas. Economies double in size between 1988 and 1996.
