Why the baptism shows about Jesus
- Jesus is gods son, as the voice from heaven was god who say that Jesus was his son.
- it shows god as the trinity , as the Holy Spirit is present, god speaks from the heavens and Jesus is there.
- it is the moment god gave Jesus his powers in the form of the holt spirits, showing him as divine and human.
- by allowing himself to be baptised, Jesus is fulfilling the OT and is setting an example for Christians
Why the baptism of Jesus causes problems today
- if Jesus really is the son of god, he would be pure and without sin. So is Jesus really the son of god?
- baptism uses water to cleanse people of their sins, so did that mean Jesus had sins?
- baptism does not make a person divine and that includes Jesus.
- Jesus was simply using his baptism to mark the start of his ministry

- the appearance of the prophets shows that Jesus is fulfilling the OT prophecies of the messiah and the las as given to Moses
- the transfiguration is a spiritual baptism and through this represents Jesus’ divinity
- it shows that Jesus was able to foretell his resurrection which presents him as the messiah
- Jesus is the son of god, as god the voice from the clouds say “that is my own dear son”
Problems the transfiguration cause for Christians today
- it is scientifically impossible to change an appearance, therefore causes Christians to lose faith, as it is proved as impossible by science.
- how would the disciples be able to identify Moses and Elijah, when they had been dead for hundreds of years.
- if the disciples saw the vision then why did they desert Jesus when he needed them.
- The idea of the vision on a mountaintop with Jesus in bright white seems unrealistic for Christians today.
- the story is difficult for Christians to understand, making them feel unworthy as they feel they can’t understand god.
Why does the calming of the storm shows about Jesus
- People believed that the storm was caused by the power of evil. Jesus demonstrates his power over evil.
- it shows that Jesus showed that he had power over nature.
- shows Jesus is divine
- shows Jesus is completing his mission as the messiah
What the feeding of the 5000 shows about Jesus
- Jesus is the messiah
- omni-benevolent, wanted to share the food with poor
- It reminds us of the Last Supper where Jesus broke bread and shared it among people.
What problems does the walking on water cause for Christians today
- it is scientifically impossible and can provide an explanation why. Causes people to lose faith in god, as science can explain things.
- not enough evidence, that Jesus actually did this. There may be evidence towards other miracles but not enough for this one.
- as it was morning, it could have been the most or fog the disciples had seen, not Jesus. Causes tension and conflict between Christians.
- some Christians believe he did, because Jesus is the messiah and the son of god so has the power to do anything and over everything. Causes conflict between Christians that believe it’s not true.

- Jesus has power over evil, as he castes out the spirits
- spirits recognised Jesus as the son of god which frightened them. As they knew the power he was capable of.

- omni-benevolent freed him from misery (the man was chained and stayed in the darkness but once healed by Jesus he came out into the light)
Problems healing of legion causes
- exorcism is not something we are very familiar with today
- some believe that the man wasn’t possessed by evil spirits but was simply ill
- the image that we have of a compassionate Jesus doesn’t fit this image.
- not enough evidence
What does raising if jairus’ daughter show about Jesus
- shows that Jesus doesn’t have a preference over gender, as women back at the time were thought lower than men. But this was not shown through Jesus as he still healed 2 women.
- Jesus was touched by a bleeding women who had faith that Jesus would cleanse her. When the women did this Jesus felt his powers escape from his body. This shows that Jesus is divine as he felt his powers heal the bleeding women.
- Jesus rose jairus’ daughter from the dead, shows Jesus has power over sickness and death.
- Jesus is omni-benevolent, as he still raised jairus’ daughter when he didn’t believe in Jesus as he was a synagogue ruler. Shows that Jesus will still help if we lack faith or belief.
Problems with the healing of jairus’ daughter
- thousands of people die everyday, why doesn’t Jesus help them too ?
- no miracles such as this ever happen today
- no evidence the girl was actually dead, even Jesus commented that she is only asleep. So it’s not a miracle.
- if the girl was never dead, that nenas Jesus isn’t the messiah and doesn’t have power of sickness and death
Why Jesus being called the messiah is significant
- Christians see god at work through Jesus
- they pray to Jesus to help become free from suffering
- they believe the messiah is their saviour and will redeem them from sin
- they believe in eternal life as Jesus can forgive sin and brings a hope of new life free from suffering in heaven
Son of man significance
- shows Jesus humanity and compassion
- Jesus had authority to forgive sins and he suffered as a human. This shows that god understands suffering and pain.
- can relate back to humans as Jesus being a son perspective and god a father.
- can promote the image of Jesus as human which may fine comfort for those today
Son of god significance
- is the most important title to mark, and starts his gospel with it
- title describes the close relationship between god and his son which humans can relate to as a father figure
- it is the titles used most by Christians today and the wisest for Christians to relate to
- the title is referred to in the statement of beliefs that Christians pray every Sunday, called the creed
