  • Some christians oppose to sex out of marriage, homosexuality and contraception
  • Others belive adopting is just as okay to fit the changing world
  • Bible doesn't specifically say anything about homosexual relationships, so it causes disagreements
  • People think the bible needs to be changed to fit with modern society

Past - considered shocking (especially for women), still like this in many cultures the can be asked to leave the family

Now/last 50 years - Changed... it is widely accepted


Christian view on sex before marriage

  • many belife sex is loving, life long union requiring commitment of marriage
  • Shouldn't be casual
  • Sexually pure before marriage because shows commitment

Anglicans and Catholics believe it is wrong to have unmarried sex

  1. but some others belive it is a valid expression of love for eachother if both are commited for a long relationship

Society and Christian view on sex outside of marriage

  • both belive adultery is wrong
  • Both agree that it is wrong because is it involves lieing, secrecy and betraying trust
  • Adultery breaks the promise people made before God at their wedding day
  • Lust is wrong
  • though, marriage is an unbreakable bond, that you should work on to forgive

Society view on family planning 

  • accept family planning
  • if you don't want a child, then it is better to prevent it than have an unwanted child
  • Concerns to reduce global increasing population



Christian agreeing view on family planning 

  • It is okay to prevent children but the way differs from each section 
  • Some forms of contraception are not okay
    • Coil
    • egg
      • both stop the already fertilised egg from developing - act of abortion = wrong




Catholic view on family planning 

  • Atifical contaception goes against God's natural law
  • Sex is for making new life, and for showing love so artifical contraception is removing that and are preventing gods plan
  • rhythm method to space births of children
  • Issue is that it can spread STIs



Other christian views on family planning 

  • sex is for children, but might not always be wanted
  • most loving thing to do is to use contracption so that it reduces unwanted children 
  • Unfair to bring a child into an already struggling family
  • CofE says it is okay, christians can have as many children they are ABLE to care for
  • Help mother health by spacing out pregnancies

Christians oppose to this because it changing the nature of marriage (same sex marriage, purpose of marriage is to duplicate in number)

  • Cost of marriage prevents people from marrying immediately
  • see if relationship is going to work before the commitment of marriage
  • never do, but raise kids in a loving family and relationship

Christians see it as sinful (catholic) CofE accept that although marriage is best, people can live together in a faithful, loving and commited way without being married and also the cost.
