Thoracic Limb Innervation Flashcards

1
Q

What does the musculocutaneous nerve innervate?

What is the dysfunction of this nerve

A

Innervates: corocobrachialis, biceps brachii, and brachialis m.

The cutaneous part- medial cutaneous antebrachii

Dysfunction: animal cannot offer paw, no gait abnormality

Q

Radial nerve innervate ?

A

Extensors of elbow, carpus, digits (triceps muscles)
The deep branch is motor - carpal extensors
Superficial branch- sensory-gives lateral and medial cutaneous antebrachial that innervates the skin over the cranial and lateral surface of forearm

Q

If injury occurs to proximal division of the radial nerve?

Distal end ?

A

Animal would not be able to bear weight because triceps m is the main weight bearing muscle , knuckling over, loss of sensation on cranio-lateral aspect of limb distal to elbow

Paralysis of carpal and extensors , flicking of paw to compensate
