1
Q

Outline how the circulatory and respiratory systems work together.

A

The circulatory systems interact with the respiratory by bringing blood to and from the lungs in order to circulate important substances (nutrients + oxygen) around the body.

Q

Describe how the circulatory and respiratory systems work together.

A
  1. Deoxygenated blood(lacks oxygen and nutrients- blue) goes from the body into the heart through the vena cava.
  2. Right atrium contracts, pushing the blood to the right ventricle.
  3. Right ventricle contracts, pushing blood out of the heart through the pulmonary artery into the lungs.
  4. Deoxygenated blood goes to the lugs and receives air through the trachea.
  5. In the alveoli, gas exchange takes place - red blood cells from the surrounding capillaries take in oxygen and give off carbon dioxide.
  6. Blood becomes oxygenated(red) and returns to left atrium through pulmonary vein, which then contracts and pushes blood to left ventricle.
  7. Left ventricle contracts and oxygenated blood is pushed out of the heart to the rest of the body through aorta.

Q

Outline how the musculoskeletal and nervous systems work together.

A

There are receptors in the muscle that sends impulses to the brain which contracts movement of the muscles and joints (also known as reflex arc).

Q

Describe how the musculoskeletal and nervous systems work together.

A
  1. Receptors in the muscles send the brain information about the body position and movement.
  2. The brain controls the contraction of skeletal muscle (it can either be voluntary- person can control it, or involuntary- reaction happens on its own)
