List the signs and symptoms that might be present when vital sign readings are not in range. (9)
Change in skin colour and texture, feeling hot/cold, irregular breathing rhythm, dizziness, thirst, dehydration, fainting, coughing, wheezing.
What vital signs should you read? (4)
Temperature, pulse, breathing, and blood pressure.
What should be considered when measuring temperature?
Assess the most adequate place from where to take the reading.
What should be considered when measuring pulse?
Ask individual whether she/he is an athlete or not.
What should be considered when measuring breathing?
Ensure individual is at rest.
What should be considered when measuring blood pressure.
Settle patient down and reassure him/ her.
What can influence high blood pressure?
Narrowing of blood vessels.
What can influence low blood pressure?
Dilated blood vessels.
What can influence high body temperature?
Infection.
What can influence low body temperature?
Extreme exposure to the cold.
What can influence rapid pulse?
Heart condition.

Heart condition.

Lung condition.
