A

Teachers often label black and Asian students as being far from the ideal pupil, and so will give them labels like disruptive for the black pupils and passive for the Asian pupils.

A

They found that teachers are quicker to discipline Black pupils - this is a result of teachers ‘racialized expectations’ - they expect black pupils to be more misbehaved and often misinterpreted their behaviour as a challenge to authority.

A
  1. Ideal pupil: a white middle class, masculinised identity with a normal sexuality.
  2. Demonised pupil: Asian ‘deserving poor’, feminised identity, either asexual or with an oppressed identity.
  3. Demonised pupil: Black or white working class, hypersexualised identity, they are unintelligent, peer led, culturally deprived and an underachiever.

A curriculum that reflects the culture of one ethnic group (usually the dominant ethnic group).
The national curriculum in the UK is specifically British which ignores non-European languages, literature, and music.
