1
Q
Types
Massed practice
Define, sporting example
A
- Repetitive and continuous
- No rest intervals
- E.g. Repetitive set shots in basketball
2
Q
Massed practice
2 advantages and 2 disadvantages
A
- ADV= Ideal for discrete skills, good at autonomous phase, good for simple or short duration skills
- DISADV= Can be exhausting/boring, could cause mental fatigue, errors could increase due to repetitiveness
3
Q
Types
Distributed practice
Define, sporting example
A
- Practice in short bursts
- No rest intervals
- E.g. sprinting or swimming
4
Q
Distributed practice
2 adv and 2 disadv
A
- ADV= Ideal for high energy continuous skills, good for complex and dangerous skills, time for rest, mental rehearsal, reinforcement and feedback
- DISADV= Rest intervals may disjoint the pracrice, causing learning to be hindered, Long/frequent breaks can be demotivating, can be hard to regain intensity
