What is episodic memory?
type of long-term memory that gives individuals an autobiographical record of things that have happened to them

What is some supporting evidence of different types of LTM?
Clive wearing - damage to specific areas of the brain leave patients with deficits in one or more types of long-term memory
What is some supporting evidence of Semantic memory being at the back of the brain?
Tulving’s radioactive gold injection, injecting himself and 4 others with radioactive gold and found that in 3/6 participants that when thinking about historical facts blood increased at the back - suggests different types of memory.
What is some challenging research of there being different types of LTM
Cohen and squire suggest the need for semantic and episodic memory should be understood as the same type of memory and research by kan et al found there was interdependence between episodic and semantic memory. This may be important to identify different types in order to help restore people’s cognitive functions.
