moving a limb away from the medial/ midline of your body

moving a limb towards the medial or midline of your body- adding something to the midline

refers to the back of the body

front of the body
superior
towards neck and head- the head to superior to the neck
inferior
closer to the feet- toes are inferior to the tibia
medial
towards the medial of your body- sternum is medial to your phalanges
lateral
away from the midline - arms are lateral to chest
proximal
closer to the attachment point or origin- shoulders are proximal to the wrists
distal
further away from the point of attachment or origin
