How many stages of UAP and UPP are there?
Three.
Do you have to go through all three stages of UAP and UPP.
No - In cases of gross incompetence you can go straight to stage three.
What if an officer is on stage three and has a case of unrelated performance or attendance issues.
Then that does not affect the stage three of the current issues and a stage one of that issues should be started.
What happens at the first stage
A written notice will be given.
How long does an officer have to make written comments on the written notice they have been presented with on a UAP
Within 7 days from the date of receipt. The line manager can give longer - discretion.
If an officer wants to change the date of a UAP and UPP meeting can they?
They can make a suggest of a date within 5 days of the previous dates.
How long can a UAP or UPP last
It should not exceed 3 months - However in exceptional cases it can be extended.
What is the maximum time a UAP or UPP can last? (after extensions)
It can only exceed 12 months in exceptional circumstances.
What is the validity period
12 months from the period on the date of the improvement notice.
Who handles the appeal for UAP and UPP
The second line manager.
When an appeal is made, when has decision got to be made by the second line manager?
Within 3 working days?
