reduce instability and global conflict whilst building secure relationships
How does the UN address inequality?

- multilateral institutions approach
What is extreme poverty?
living on less than $1.25 per day
What years did the MDGs run from and to?
2000-2015
What % of people were living in extreme poverty in 1990? what about 2010?
1990: 36%
2010: 18%
What is the time range for the SDGs?
2016-2030

How do the SDGs link to Gini/Lorenz?
aims to reduce inequality which would lead to a gini closer to 0 and a plot on the lorenz graph closer to the line of equality
How would SDGs impact Uganda?
- less poverty and hunger -> less migration
- BUT, climate policies could impact fishing and industry
What is environmental sustainability?
state where the demands placed on the environment can be met without reducing quality of the environment for future generations
What are global commons?
resource domains that are outside the political reach of any nation state therefore everyone and no one are responsible for them
What does UNDP stand for?
United Nations Development Programme
What does UNEP stand for? what are they?
United Nations Environment Programme, are the global authority on the environment
