Every person has two kidneys that feed into the urter, which then feeds into the bladder and urethra. Outer covering is called renal capsule, outer cortex, inner medulla, central cavity: renal pelvis. Kidneys main job is filtration. Removes metabolic waste from the blood. Adjusts fluid balance in the body (water-salt balance, acid-base balance). Hormone secrection (produce erythropoeitin (red blood cells), produce renin, converts vitamin D to a form that facilitates calcium absorption and blood calcium levels.
