Q

What is the control group?

A

This is the group that didn’t change in the experiment; the group being compared to.

12
Q

What is the dependent variable?

13
Q

What is the independent variable?

A

This is the variable that you change in the experiment, it varies the dependent variable.

16
Q

What do many systems form into?

A

They form into an entire organism.

17
Q

What is biology?

A

It is the study of all living things.

18
Q

What are organelles?

A

They are a part of a cell, each does a specific job.

19
Q

What are cells?

A

They are a part of a tissue, all cells are seperate into different categories (ie, brain cells).

20
Q

What is scientific method?

A

It is the process that people go through in order to form a hypothesis, create a theory, and through experimentation, possibly form a scientific fact.

21
Q

Define observation?

A

This is the act of watching something, to see how it acts, or its effects on the enviroment, or a specific subject.

22
Q

What is the experiment group?

A

This is the group that is directly manipulated in order to test or see the results of a hypothesis or theory.

23
Q

What is theory?

A

This is an educated guess/observation, just before scientific fact.

24
Q

What is a prediction?

A

In science this is a guess that holds slightly less merit than a hypothesis, solely because it is an inference made without further education into the subject in question (an uneducated guess).

25
What is an experiment?
These are the steps taken to test a hypothesis or theory. It is important that when performed, only a single given variable is changed at a time.
26
What is development?
It is the stage in life where the organism grows into the later stages of its life.
27
What is organization?
In biology, organization is the separate levels of life in an organism (ie, cells, tissue, organs, organ systems, etc).
28
What is unicellure?
It is an organism consisting of only a single cell, such as a bacterium.
29
What is multicellular?
It is an organism consisting of many cells, such as a human.
30
Define evolution.
This is the process in which a species adapts to its enviroment over a long period of time.
31
Define adaptation.
This is similar to evolution, except that it is more short term, where an organism quickly "evolves" in a new environment that it may have, for example, immigrated to.
32
What is natural selection?
It is the process (or possibly belief) that an organism will naturally be attracted to a mate that has a greater chance of producing healthier offspring.
33
What is reproduction?
This is the process in which two members of the same species conduct in either sexual or asexual activities in order to form one or more new members for the population of its species.
