what is the “master gland”?
the pituitary gland
where is the hypothalamus gland and what does it control?
under the brain; controls the pituitary gland
what does the hypothalamus gland do?
it connects the nervous system to the endocrine system by sending signals to the pituitary gland
what is the job of the adrenal glands?
to secrete adrenaline & cortisol which raises blood pressure, heart rate, muscle efficiency (fight or flight response)
what is the job of the pancreas?
to secret enzymes that aid in digestion and hormones that regulate blood glucose levels
what is the job of the thyroid gland?
to regulate metabolism, growth, and development
what is the job of the parathyroid gland?
to regulate calcium
what is the job of the ovaries?
to secret estrogen, leads to adult female development
what is the job of the testes?
to secret testosterone, leads to adult male development
