How can you destarch a plant?

Leave the plant in the dark for at least two days, to ensure that any starch already in the leaves will be used up before the experiment.

In an experiment to discover if light is neeeded for photosynthesis, part of one leaf is covered with foil.
Describe and explain the results for this experiment.

The uncovered part of the leaf turned blue/black with iodine, showing it contained starchand had carried out photosynthesis.
The part covered did not and remained orange/brown with iodine. This shows that light is needed for photosynthesis
