Q

In darkness (no light) what can only take place?

A

Respiration can only take place.
Carbon dioxide levels will increase.

Q

In low light conditions (eg. dawn or dusk) what will occur?

A

Respiration occurs, but now because of the light, photosynthesis can also occur.
But it does not happen at a fast rate because of the low light level. Rates of photosynthesis and respiration are equal.
Carbon dioxide levels will be level - this is known as the compensation point, and there is no net gas exchange

Q

In bright light conditions what occurs?

A

Respiration still occurs but photosynthesis happens at a much faster rate. carbon dioxide levels will decrease.
