What was Jesus’s command before he ascended?
To go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:16-20)
Wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon them (Acts 1:4-11)
What happened during the Pentecost?
The disciples gathered in one place, then there was a strong wind. They then saw that each disciple had a flame on their head, this flame was the Holy Spirit giving the disciples to speak in different tongues.
What was the fruit of the first Christians?
healings and raising from the dead.
What was the character change in Peter?
He started out as someone who was fearful then, after the resurrection, he became fearless
- powerless>empowered
- doubtful>confident

- After the coming of the spirit, he powerfully preached; 3000 were saved

What was the change in Paul?
- Paul was the person who approved of the Christian stoning.
- he was on his way to Damascus, when a bright light shone at him, he became blinded, but before being blinded he saw Jesus. In Damascus, a man named Ananias, healed Paul from being blind.
What was Paul’s background?
- He was a Jew
- born in Tarsus, Cilicia (Turkey), Asia Minor
- Roman citizen by birth ( the ways to get a Roman citizen was to get it by birth, buy it, or be in the army for 25 years minimum)
- > being a Roman citizen, Paul had the right to appeal his case to Caesar, in court. Also a right was that no Roman citizen was to be bound and whipped.
- he spoke Greek( from tarsus), Aramaic(Jew), and he would have known Hebrew.
What was Paul’s education?
- He studied under Gamaliel in Jerusalem
• Gamaliel was the most prominent rabbi of his day, Pharisee on the Sanhedrin
a) Paul gained an expert knowledge of the Hebrew scripture through Gamaliel
b) because of this, he grasp of the OT history and law aided his presentation of Jesus Christ as the one who had fulfilled the law.

- He was a Pharisee( Pharisees longed for the God of Israel, to fulfill his promise to free them from oppression, defeat Israelis enemies, and restore the nation to its rightful place as the throne from which God ruled over all earth).
What happened on the first missionary journey?
a miracle, persecution, and major destination
Miracle: the sorcerer, Elymas, became blind, he was trying to turn proconsul away from the faith.
A lame man in Lystra was healed.
Persecution: the people thought the Paul and Barnabas were gods, so they tried to worship and sacrifice animals for them. When they refused, the people stoned Paul.
Major destination: Lystra, Antioch
What happened on the second missionary journey?
miracle, persecution, major destination
Before: Paul and Barnabas had an argument about bringing John on the next missions trip
Miracle: Paul healed a girl slave from a demon. She kept yelling out who Paul was and trying to make the people go against Paul.
Persecution: the slaves owners got Paul and Silas arrested and thrown in prison.
- a jailer and his household believed and got baptized
Major destination: Philippi, Thessalonians, Berra, Athens, and Corinth

Before: apollos was encouraged
Miracle: an uprising occurred in Ephesus. Eutychus was raised from the dead from falling from a 3 story building.
Persecution: Gaius and Aristarchus were seized, but then let free
