Unit 8 - algebra 2 Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
What does covered circle or blank circle mean about inequality?
A
Covered circle - more than or equal to/less than or equal to
Blank circle - more than/less than
2
Q
State 3 discriminants and what solutions they give
A
- b^2 - 4ac > 0 two real solutions
- b^2 - 4ac = 0 one real solution
- b^2 - 4ac < 0 no real solutions
3
Q
How to graph inequalities?
A
- Draw the line (e.g. x<2)
If it is more than, line is dotted; if it is more than or equal 2 line is filled - Shade side which does not fulfill equation, draw R on side which does
4
Q
2x^2 -9x +10 is more than or equal to 0, factorize it and find the range
A
- factorize it to get (2x-5)(x-2)
- This means that x is smaller than 2.5 but bigger than 2
- Since it says more than or equal to 0, it will be written like x>2.5, x<2; this shows the two sides of the parabola above the x axis. If it would be smaller than 0, it would be written like 2<x<2.5 to show the curved, connected part under x axis
