made it difficult to become a citizen and easier to arrest and deport non citizens.
Sedition act 1798
arrested people for criticizing the government.
Embargo act 1807
an act by Thomas Jefferson that supported the policy of neutrality. It is a government ban on trade with a foreign nation. as a result farmers and shipowners could not bring resources to other nations for profit and were paralyzed.
The monroe doctrine
supported neutrality by protecting the whole western hemisphere including latin america from trade with europe.
The truman doctrine
the United States would provide economic and military aid to democratic nations threatened by communism. supported containment policy
