One way the USA has a military influence on other countries is a member of NATO. This means that the USA as part of NATO play a key role in supporting Ukraine in the ongoing war. Evidence of this is the USA is the joint leading founder of NATO providing 16% of its budget as of 2025.
One way that the USA has military influence is by having a strong navy. The US has the largest naval fleet in the world with the most advanced technological hardware. Evidence of this is in 2021 the navy had around 340 thousand personnel. (Statista)
One way that the US military has an influence on other countries is that they can give aid to countries that need it for war. This means that their assistance has helped Ukraine resist being overwhelmed by Russia. One way the USA has political influence on other countries is that they can attempt to end conflict.
This means that the USA has strong relationships with other countries which then allows their comments to have an impact. Evidence of this is that a ceasefire began in Gaza a fortnight after Biden called for a ‘pause’ in the Isreal-Hamas conflict on 1 Nov 2023.
One way the USA has political influence over other countries is by holding large conferences.
This means the USA can show their power over other countries and persuade them to follow their preferred course if action. Evidence of this is when Joe Biden hosted a Leaders Summit and brought together 40 world leaders to discuss climate change in March 2021.

One way the USA has economic influence on other countries is their large businesses that create jobs globally. This means that the USA can support other countries’ economies through the success of their own businesses’ international employment. Evidence of this is that Amazon, an American owned company, employs around 1.6 million people globally as of 2025.
One way that the USA has economic influence is tourism. This means that American tourists contributed lots of money for other countries by going on holiday. Evidence of this is in 2022 tourists from the US spent around 1.2 billion pounds while visiting Scotland.
One way the USA has economic influence on other countries is by trade exports. This means the USA is vital to Scotland’s economy. Evidence of this is in 2021, Scotland exported £5 billion worth of goods to the US. (by Scot Gov)
