What is the difference between an attenuated and inactivated vaccine?
An inactivated vaccine is a dead microbe (killed by heat/radiation/chemical), whereas an attenuated vaccine is still alive but the pathogenic part of the vaccine has been removed. Inactivated vaccines are less effective than attenuated vaccines and often requires a booster (i.e. rabies)
What is a toxoid vaccine?
A vaccine that uses an inactivated toxin of the microbe i.e. tetanus/diptheria
What kind of infection is diptheria?
Diptheria is a bacterial infection
