What does validity mean?
trustworthy
What is internal validity?
The extent to which results are due to the tested variable rather than extraneous variables
What is external validity?
When results can be generalised to other peoples setting and overtime
What is high internal validity?
-extraneous variable is well controlled
What is low internal validity?
-extraneous variable has not been controlled
What is high external validity after research has been conducted
-representative of target population
What is ecological validity?
-apply to places/ real life
What is population validity?
people
What is temporal validity
times/time periods
What is face validity?
look at the test results to see if it looks valid
What is Concurrent validity?
The extent or checking that a measure relates to an existing similar measure
- compare previous tests complete
-complete old and new test to compare
