Q

Describe genotype vs. phenotype

A

Genotypes are the letters (Rw, RW, RR, etc) and location for the alleles. The phenotype is the expressed trait from the alleles.

Q

Explain codominance

A

Codominance is when both alleles are expressed in the trait. They are both present equally in the trait. This is when both traits are dominant (ex: RW).

Q

Explain incomplete dominance

A

Incomplete dominance is when one trait cannot completely mask or dominate the other. This is when the white flower and red flower becomes pink. They blend together and show both. This uses this same letters as typical dominance (Rw)

Q

sex limited traits

A

Sex limited are genes that occur in both sexes on the autosomes but are expressed only in the gender

Q

why are lethal alleles recessive?

A

because you need a pair of identical alleles that are both present in an organism that ultimately results in death of that organism
