Flashcards in Vents-Prelabs Deck (11):
1

What is a trigger

Mechanism that is used by the ventilator to start inspiration

2

What is a limit

Parameter that can be reached and maintained at a present level before inspiration ends
Does not terminate inspiration

3

Cycle

The inspiratory phase will end once a certain variable reaches a present value

4

Baseline

Will always be PEEP

5

How is tidal volume determined in VC-CMV

Set by you

6

How is tidal volume determined in PC-CMV

Based upon pressure and compliance

7

How is tidal volume determined in PC-CMV adaptive

Based up the set volume (not flow)

8

VC-CMV trigger, limit, cycle, and baseline

Trigger-Time or patient

9

Purpose of ramp or inspiratory rise time

The use of a ramp is to match the way we naturally breathe. Normally, a person intakes more air in at the start of their inspiration, then less as the breath goes on until expiration happens. (DIctates how fast the pressure reaches peak)
