23
Q

From the 200 volcanoes in the Philippines, how many volcanoes are considered active?

24
Q

How can you tell if a volcano is active?

A

When it has erupted within historic times and is capable of erupting anytime.

25
Give an example of active volcanoes?
Mt. Mayon, Mt. Taal, Mt. Kanlaon
26
How can you tell if a volcano is inactive?
If it has not erupted within historic times and has no possibility of erupting.
27
What volcanoes that are has not erupted within historic times but can possibly erupt anytime?
Dormat Volcano
28
Give an example of Dormat Volcano.
Mt. Apo and Mt. Arayat
29
Why do volcanoes erupt
* a volcano eruption happens when a part of the Earth’s crust sinks into the mantle. * due to intensive heat, rock melts, and release gas causing the magma to rise in addition to extreme pressure building up surrounding the solid rocks. * as heat and pressure becomes more intense, magma rises until it reaches the main vent and finally flow out of the crater.
