Formula Functions:
1. Warms MJ and dispels cold
2.Tonifies qi and strengthens the spleen

Diagnosis: Deficient cold of the spleen and stomach

Symptoms: Abdominal pain with preference to warmth and pressure, diarrhea with watery stool, no thirst, nausea and vomiting, epigastric distention, loss of appetite, pale tongue with white coating, deep and slow or deep and thready pulse; Or loss of blood with yang deficiency; or chronic infantile convulsion or predilection for spitting saliva after recovery from illness; or chest bi syndrome due to deficient cold of MJ

Applications: Chronic gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer, chronic colitis, indigestion, gastric dilatation, and gastroptosia

Diagnosis & Symptoms
1.Deficient cold of stomach: Vomiting immediately after eating, fullness and distention in the chest and epigastrium, and acid regurgitation with or without epigastric pain, deep/thready/tense pulse
2.Headache of Jue-yin channel: Nausea or spitting of clear fluids with HA at the vertex
3.Cold attacking MJ: Vomiting and diarrhea with cold hands and feet and severe irritability, deep/thready pulse

Applications: Acute or chronic gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer, hepatitis, migraine, Meniere’s disease

Cold in MJor cold in ST/LV

Ingredients
1.Wu ZhuYu (FructusEvodiaeRutaecarpae)
2.Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng)
3.Sheng Jiang (RhizomaZingiberisRecens)
4.Da Zao(FructusZizyphiJujubae)

Contraindication & Caution
1.Stomach pain or vomiting due to heat
2.For severe vomiting, take cold decoction to prevent vomiting of herb tea. In a few patients may experience a more severe vomiting after taking the decoction; it will subside by itself in half an hour. The patients should advised to take a rest after taking the tea to alleviate the reaction

Diagnosis:
Abdominal pain due to deficient cold
Fever due to yang deficiency

Symptoms: Abdominal pain better with warmth and pressure; or palpitation, irritability, pale complexion, thready, wiry and slow pulse, Or low grade fever with sore extremities, dry mouth and throat

Applications: Gastritis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, inflammatory bowel disease, anemia, and leukemia

Minor Construct the Middle Decoction:

Abdominal pain due to deficient cold or fever due to yang deficiency

1.Yi Tang (Maltose)

3.Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae)
4.Sheng Jiang (RhizomaZingiberisRecens)
5.Da Zao(Honey-fried FructusZizyphiJujubae)
6.ZhiGanCao (Radix GlycyrrhizaeUralensis)

Preparation: Decoction, add Yi Tang (Maltose) to the strained decoction

Contraindication & Caution
1.Hyperactivity of fire due to yin deficiency
2.Vomiting
3.Vomiting roundworms

2. Yang collapse due to inappropriate sweating in Tai Yang stage

Symptoms: Extremely cold extremities, intolerance to cold, sleeping with the knees drawn up, vomiting without thirst, abdominal cold pain, diarrhea with undigested food, mental fatigue and lethargic state with a constant desire to sleep, pale complexion, profuse sweating, white and slippery coating, deep, slow and minute pulse

Applications: Cardiac insufficiency, hypopituitarism, hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency

Frigid Extremities Decoction:

Shao yin disease; Yang collapse due to inappropriate sweating in Tai Yang stage

Ingredients
1.Sheng Fu Zi(Radix LateralisAconitiCannichaeli)
2.GanJiang (RhizmaZingiberisOfficinalis)
3.ZhiGanCao (Honey-fried Radix Glycyrrhizae)

Preparation: Decoction, cook Sheng Fu Zifor one hour before adding the other ingredients, take warm

Contraindication
1.The patient with heat symptoms
2.Real heat with false cold syndromes

Applications: Chronic gastritis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, chronic pancreatitis, intestinal spasms, and intestinal obstruction
