Q

What do the alert colours mean

A

Red = ‘’warning’’ required immediate attention Amber = ‘’caution’’ requires timely attention
Green = shows a fully extended or functioning state
Blue = information, pwr avail, valve position, status or transition Dim blue = system is in the caption config/position
Bright blue = system not in the caption config/position

9
Q

Is PASS OXY automatically activated on drop?

A

No, one mask in each row has to be pulled down to trigger the chemical generator.

10
Q

Should you activate PASS OXY for smoke in the cabin?

A

No, it mixes with the cabin air so won’t help. The flt deck supply to the masks is direct so is needed with smoke/fumes.

11
Q

How can you distinguish between a TO CONFIG and CABIN ALT warning?

A

Both have an intermittent horn Most AC have red captions
TO CONFIG only on the ground
CABIN ALT only >10000ft`

15
Q

What would trigger a TO CONFIG warning?

A

On TL advance for TO:
-flap not 1-25, asymmetric or moving
-slats not configured, asymmetric or moving
-speed brake lever not down
-parking brake set
-Stab trim not in green TO band
-Spoiler control valve open giving hyd pressure to gnd spoiler interlock valve

16
Q

When will the landing gear horn sound and can it be canx?

A

Flap TL angle RALT
0-10 <20 or <34 OEI 200-800ft Yes
0-10 <20 or <34 OEI <200ft No
15-25 <20 or <34 OEI Any No
30-40 Any Any No

17
Q

If the wx radar isn’t selected on before TO do you lose windshear
protection?

A

No, but yes. Automatically selected on as TLs set to TO thrust, but circa 12
sec delay until returns can generate a warning.

18
Q

Can the wx radar detect all windshear activity?

A

No. Requires particles (dust/water) in the air

19
Q

When are predictive windshear alerts available?

A

Cautions +/-30 deg out to 3nm
‘’MONITOR RADAR DISPLAY’’ amber ‘WINDSHEAR’ on ND
Warnings on gnd+/-0.25nm out to 3nm
‘’WINDSHEAR AHEAD’’ = STOP if below V1. red ‘WINDSHEAR’ on ND and PFD
Warnings in air +/-0.25nm out to 1.5 nm
‘’GO AROUND WINDSHEAR AHEAD’’ red ‘WINDSHEAR’ on ND and PFD

20
Q

When is reactive windshear warning available?

A

<1500ft RALT ‘’WINDSHEAR’’ calculated based on GPWS
(reactive cautions not enabled on company fleet)

21
Q

When are predictive windshear alerts inhibited?

A

Below 2300ft detection starts
Below 1200ft warnings and cautions active To avoid overloading TO phase:
Below 400ft and >80 kts limited to warnings only
Below 50ft and >100kts all alerts inhibited

22
Q

Scan width of WX radar?

A

Normally +/- 90 deg, when predictive windshear active +/- 60 deg

23
Q

WX radar colours?

A

Green, amber, red based on increasing density. (Magenta = predicted turbulence)

24
Q

WX radar turbulence?

A

WR+T = horizontal droplet movement of >5 meters per second Displayed/detected to a max of 40nm regardless of scale selected

25
Q

CVR details?

A

Looped 120 mins
4 channels (Capt, FO, observer and area mic) Starts when selected on or automatic at 1st engine
Stops after 2nd engine shut down + 5 mins

26
Q

Can you erase CVR?

A

Yes, on gnd, parking brake set, press and hold ‘erase’ for >2 secs

27
Q

FDR details

A

Looped 25hrs
Starts on 1st engine start
Stops on 2nd engine shut down

28
Q

EGPWS terrain, what do the colours mean?

A

Dotted green >500ft below Dotted amber -500ft to +2000ft Dotted red >2000ft above
Solid amber 40-60sec to collision ‘’CAUTION TERRAIN’’
Solid red 20-30 sec to collision ‘’TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP’’

29
Q

TCAS ‘scan’ area?

A

Normal +/-2700ft
Above +7000ft to-2700ft
Below +2700ft to -7000ft

30
Q

When is TCAS inhibited?

A

Above 1500ft no restrictions
Below 1500ft ‘increase descent’ RAs inhib Below 1100ft all ‘descend’ RAs inhib Below 1000ft all RAs inhib, TA only
Below 500ft all TAs inhib
Windshear and terrain warnings override all TA/RAs

31
Q

When should you select TA only?

A

When prescribed in the QRH (when your performance is degraded reducing your ability to climb)

32
Q

What do the ‘eyebrows’ indicate?

A

PLI (Pitch Limit Indictor) the max nose up attitude before reaching the stall
-slow speed & flap up
-flap not up at any speed

33
Q

When with the seat belt signs come on/off at ‘AUTO’?

A

Come on when gear OR flap is extended Goes off when gear AND flap is up

34
Q

When do the overwing exits lock?

A

3/4 cabin doors closed & either engine running & (A-G logic in the air, or both TLs advanced)

35
Q

When do the overwing exits unlock?

A

2/4 cabin doors open & engines off & (A-G logic on gnd or either TL at closed) or DC power lost

36
Q

When is the alt alerting sequence

A

900-750ft to acquisition, alts will be boxed and bold white Once acq if 2-300ft from level amber flashing boxed alt
(inhibited if flap >25, or GS captured

37
Q

What flt deck indications are there for door slide arming and deployment?

A

None

38
Q

TCAS Symbols

A
